Lame
The ties are so far down towards the bottom of curtain that it barely lets in a 1/4 inch of light.

Madison room darkening tie shades.
I was disappointed in the tie shades. They are not adjustable. You have short fixed ties. I assumed I would be able to adjust the length of the shades in my window that is not the case. I love the fabric, beautiful shades, but when pressing the shades I had puckering at the sewn edges. Overall disappointing.

Prettier than pictured
The images don't show how pretty these shades really are. They have a slight sheen to them and a really pleasing smooth texture.
I got the aubergine color and they were just the color I expected from the photos. I was worried they'd arrive some goofy grape color, since shades of purple can be really hard to order online, but they are lovely. The aubergine is kind of a brownish plum purple — really elegant. I couldn't be happier with the color.
I love how versatile the ties are. I love them drawn up as pictured, and it's easy to do, even without directions. I also love letting them hang straight down like curtains and then using the front or back ties to cinch them, so they are partially open. I hung sheers behind mine.
They are indeed room darkening, which is not to be confused with black-out shades. These do darken the room compared to open curtains or just sheers.
I would buy these again and would recommend them. The only way these shades could be better is if they had two sets of ties, since when they are drawn up, it doesn't expose much of the window or let much light in. I knew this going in and it suits me just fine, but the option of having them tied up higher sometimes would make them perfect.
