Mom and Grandma circa 1957

As Mother’s day is upon us, it’s caused me to reflect on how I got to where I am today. From a very early age I used to watch my Mom apply her makeup, inclusive of false lashes from time to time. Her hair was always coiffed and she was dressed in the most stylish of clothes. Truly an inspiration!

I was constantly confiscating her hand-me-downs in the way of makeup, clothes and shoes (usually way to big for my 6 year old self playing dress up) and sometimes even wigs and falls! Once I got the hang of putting certain looks together, I started practicing on the other girls in the neighborhood. I don’t know if I’d call my creations glamorous but more colorful perhaps. Everyone got everything piled on their smiling little faces as I nodded approvingly. I’m sure their Mothers thanked me as they tried to scrub their practicing beauty’s faces before bedtime..I’m sure!

Anyway, thanks Mom, for all of the fashion influence and guidance along the way;) I Love you!!

Lots of love to all of you wonderful Mothers on this Mother’s Day weekend!

XOXO

P.S. I got my first semi-professional makeup kit for my 15th birthday as well as my first trip to Vidal Sassoon…Thanks, Maxine, for taking it from there! 🙂 Love you! Xo Mo
