Updating your wardrobe this fall
As the weather gets colder, you’re obviously going to have to start busting out the sneakers and boots while your sandals make their way toward the back of the closet. While many of your fall clothes from last year will probably easily make the transition this year, your closet could probably use a little bit of sprucing up.
Here’s how you know you’re justified in treating yourself to some new staples this fall:
You have nothing to wear
Do you look into your closet every morning and struggle to find something to wear, even though it looks like it’s stocked? This is a sign that your wardrobe needs an overhaul. Go through your closet and donate everything that doesn’t fit or just doesn’t suit your needs or lifestyle anymore. This will give you closet space to fill with new items that are “in” this season that you’ll love and actually wear.
Consider having a “swap party” for you and your friends. Everyone can bring clothes and accessories they no longer want, and everyone trades! Anything left over at the end of the night can be donated.
You can’t remember when you bought those jeans
While denim seems as if it’ll always be in style, that’s not to say that all jeans will be on trend forever. If you’re still wearing distressed flares, or anything with thick stitching, you need to get yourself some new jeans this fall. A pair of cropped jeans will go great with your fall booties and some dark skinny jeans will be able to be dressed up or down. Jeans are one of the most versatile staples, so it’s important to have a pair or two that you really love.
You haven’t given a second thought to your bras
With regular wear, the average bra’s lifespan is less than a year. To make matters worse, too many women are wearing the wrong size bra as well. If you can’t remember the last time you bought a new bra, let alone were professionally measured, you should get on that. You may not even realize how much you need a new one. A properly-fitting bra shouldn’t gap in the cups, ride too high in the back or dig into your shoulders. You won’t believe how much more confident you’ll feel and how much better your posture will feel with a brand new bra.
“Are you tired of everything in your closet?”
You’re wearing the same outfits all the time
It’s one thing to have a few go-to outfits that you feel like your best self in. It’s another to have one “nice outfit” that you wear every time a situation calls for something semi-formal. Treat yourself to a couple new occasion dresses, as well as a few staples that you can use to bring your couture up to the next level, like a stylish clutch or some embellished heels. It doesn’t take as much as you might think to spice up an old look.
“Change it up with new accessories.”
Everything looks the same
Everyone has their comfort zones when it comes to their wardrobe, but there comes a time when you need to bust out of it. If everything you own looks like a variation of something else, you need to step it up a notch. Instead of sticking with black or navy, try some lighter colors this fall layered underneath a dark jacket or sweater. If you can’t seem to stray too far from your usual look, try changing it up just a little with some new accessories.
