Kick your style up a notch with these spring accessories

When spring finally arrives, you might get so caught up in the new outfits that you forget about what you can do to spice those outfits up! Since you won’t be covering yourself – and your outfit – with big heavy coats, spring is the best time to experiment with accessories. There are three staples you need this season.

“There’s nothing like a pop of color in your outfit.”

Colorful bags

Chances are, you’ve invested in quite a few handbags in your day. But how many of them have been colorful? We carry our purses every day, so many people are hesitant to invest in one that won’t match everything they own. This leads to an abundance of neutral handbags obtained over the years as opposed to just slowly building a collection of colors and prints. If you’ve been hesitant to purchase a blue handbag or any other sort of bold color, now’s the time to do it, especially if you tend to opt for more neutral clothes. There’s nothing like a pop of color in your outfit to really help you stand out from the crowd.

Whether you prefer a large satchel bag or a smaller clutch for the essentials, you can always use some color. If you work in a conservative environment, you may be worried about violating a dress code by wearing a bright color. However, you can use your purse as a way to experiment instead of opting for a bright outfit. This way, not matter what you wear to work, if it’s neutral, your bag will always pair perfectly without looking stuffy or boring!

Printed heels

Like handbags, people tend to want their shoes to match every possible outfit. Open your closet and see how many pairs of black, gray or brown pumps you own. The hottest trend this spring though, is to embrace patterns below your knees. No matter how you feel about colorful shoes, there’s a way to wear printed footwear. For example, if you opt for neutral tones, go for an animal print shoe or heels in black and white polka dots. If you like something brighter, there are even more options!

If you tend to  gravitate toward color-blocked outfits, patterned shoes are a great first step into spicing up your look. A chic black-and-white outfit paired with some floral heels will really pop without taking away from the streamlined aesthetic you’re trying to achieve. You can also use this opportunity to make a regular jeans-and-tee combo more stylish. While a classic pair of pumps in a fun print is a foolproof way to enhance any plain outfit, you can also opt for printed wedge shoes for a real springtime vibe!

Chunky jewelry

Statement necklaces and other types of bold costume jewelry sets are accessories that we hope never go out of style! Sure, a simple gold or silver chain has its place in all of our jewelry boxes, but it’s pieces that catch the eye that’ll make you look like a real fashionista.

A large statement necklace is one of the best ways to spruce up a little black dress or a sleeveless blouse this spring. Opt for a brightly colored necklace or one with sparkly stones so it really stands out. If your top has a collar on it, try layering the necklace beneath the collar for maximum impact.
